Has anyone tried the 'touch grass app yet?'

A great way to slow things down just a little… unless we’re talking Reels playback speed (read on to find out more).

The app might not be practical for social media marketers/managers, but it's a nice touch that reminds us to disconnect from the digital world when we can.

Here are some social media updates this week.

⍋ Instagram has revealed that reposting is getting a refresh. Instead of just sharing posts to Stories, you can now repost directly to your followers’ feeds and add your own caption to give it some flavour.

⍋ 2x speed Reels are coming to a world that should be trying to slow down. Instagram is also testing double-speed playback on Reels, so if life wasn’t moving fast enough already, now you can watch a 60-second clip in 30. Great for productivity... questionable for attention spans.

⍋ Quite a nice one from Pinterest, proving it pays to be positive. New research suggests that ads perform better on feel-good platforms. Pinterest’s uplifting environment leads to higher emotional engagement and better ad results.

⍋ Wistia’s new State of Video 2025 report shows that over 40% of businesses are now producing at least one video per week, which has doubled since 2023.

71% of companies produce content in-house, yet engagement rates are dipping. Why? Because everyone’s doing it. Strategy and authenticity matter more than ever. (And yes, AI can be helpful, but relying solely on it for everything is noticeable).

⍋ LinkedIn’s Campaign Manager gets smarter with new “Media Planner” tools in Campaign Manager. You can now forecast campaign performance before you hit publish. Think of it as a crystal ball for marketers. And one I'm very much here for.

That’s a wrap for this week. Go outside and touch some grass before another app update hits.
